(My point is, WHY do you wear it, unless…! Not saying that the religion Islam is flawed. It indeed is perfect. No denying it.)
Some scholars believe it is obligatory to wear it while others believe it is just a recommendation. Like our President”al-usthaaz” Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom. (whos wife doesnt wear it) Different people different views. I respect it. Though im not a sheik, the divergence of view is understandable. The scholars who support the veil is obligatory, maintain a very restrictive reading of the Quranic statement that deals with women’s appearance and vice versa.
The sudden increase in the number of women wearing burqa surprised me. A lot of women i know wore it, right after the Tsunami and later after the famous fatwa cd published by Ali Rameez. Before it was like one in every five women i see on the road wear burqa. But now its like four in every five women wearing it. Most of the women who wear the veil say that they do so of conviction, that it is an Islamic requirement. While few others are compelled to wear it by the force of family pressure too. But might someone wear it just because everybody else around is wearing it or going to wear it? Cant it be the new trend in town? The popular taste at this particular time? The latest fashion for them? Or maybe because it might change the views of the people? Or to show that they are innocent? Possible.
Anyway the point is not about wearing the veil. But the respect for the veil. Some time back, nobody seems to bother a women wearing a burqa while they walk on the road alone. I always thought modest kind religious women wore the burqa. And i used to respect them a lot. But now everything seems a bit different. Have a walk on Majeedhi Magu at night. You’ll get the picture. These burugeez wear so tight dresses, showing the shape of their bossoms and their bum. And ill give you 80% chance to see a burugee with some guy in that dark place right after the parking lot inbetween the carnival and artificial beach. Every night! I mean burqa doesnt seem to me as a religious thing or a religious dress code here in male’ anymore! does it?
The reasons and motives of some people’s actions and their background does not necessarily means there is a problem wearing the buruqa. Or with the religion. Or the law. But a problem with the people! Yeah i guess these burugeez shall know, NOT what they are wearing but WHY they are wearing it! Thats it!
PS : For those burgeez who love to swim but have trouble swimming with those jilbabs and hijabs. (that is if only you believe it is not a sin to swim)
Here and here is a link to buy your burqini ( burqa-bikini, the swimsuit for modest muslim women).

These are the 3 things you should probably have if you want a girl friend in Male’
1. A Phone – To call her every now and then. To set the date or arrange the place of the date. To be on time. To be there for her when ever she is in need. Send text messages picture messages to her. To take pictures of both of you together (or her pictures mostly) To play music when she feels bored. Send her credit if she’s got a pre-paid from your post paid.
2. A Vehicle – A motor cycle. Or a car is more preferable. To take her to the office and bring her home. To take her for a coffee or a dinner. To take her for a ride late at night. Roam around male for two to three times on Bodu Thakurufaanu Magu. Basically to be her taxi driver.
3. Money – Obviously one of the most important thing you got to have if you want a girl friend here in Male’. To impress her and make her go out with you. To buy her presents on birthdays anniversaries and other special occasions. To pay for the coffee, the lunch or the dinner. To pay for the holiday trip to a resort or a foreign country. All in all money will be a part of everything you do with her.
You might survive with a girl friend if you have one or two things mentioned above. But if you do not have any of these three things mentioned above, don’t even dream about having a girl friend here in Male’……!!!! OR WAIT… until their mind evolve to want something you’ve got. (might be something sane next time)
So its like….
Social respect, higher social ranking, high class people like “beyfulhun” “ganduvaru therey saahibun” “fandithaverin” “valeeverin” and “all those shit” Or people who have houses, a fishing boat or people who have a lot of coconut palms maybe.
A car or a motor cycle. An expensive phone. A lot of money.
Maybe more educated people. Degree holders. Phd holders. Professionals. Creative people. Intellectual people. Innovative people. People with a better understanding and a higher IQ level. Or might it not be the chance for a free thinker like me?
